1/365: Before the tree comes down

Christmas Pixie

A Christmas pixie. My grandmother used to decorate her tree with them, and at some point gave some to my mother to hold on to for me. They're not that pretty, a bit creepy at times, and full of memories.

My grandmother had these, too. In fact, when my grandfather died and she moved out, my sister hoarded them and gave us each one. Mine is the best of all: green sparkly pants and hat and s/he is sitting on a swing made of mistletoe with arms wrapped around folded knees. Its actually hanging above my head as I type this. I think that it has the same face as the one you've posted.

When I opened the box and saw it, I had such a rush of childhood memories. This goofy little thing hung in the entrance to the kitchen every Christmas that I can remember. I'm glad to have it in my house (even though I totally agree that they are a bit creepy!)
